A new beginning

I attended a ballet class yesterday after a long, long break. A break so long that I was terrified to start again, knowing that I'd have no strength in my muscles left.

I almost turned at the door and I had to force myself to go in. And then, for the 3-4 first combinations, my legs were shaking. And I mean literally - I could not hold a balance, because my knees and calves and thighs were just one big stuttering jelly.

That, of course, took the rest of the strength away. The class was beg2 level and only 60 minutes, but by the time we reached the small jumps, I could not find the strenght to jump properly. And today, of course, just getting out of the chair is an effort.

However, it was nice. Jane had easy, clear combinations (with some surprisingly advanced stuff like fouettes thrown in) and I was able to complete most of them. I had to give in with stuff like do half of the adagio and fondues to a bit less than 45 degrees (to do them with proper alignment, I was too tired to keep proper alignment at 60/90+ degrees) and I notice I have some stretching to do to keep my leg in proper retire, but otherwise, all good.

Now to see if I can manage the next class on Wednesday or shall it push to Thursday or Friday.
